Transfer: "That's a concern for me – Yorke expresses dissatisfaction with Man United's new signing."

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has expressed his concerns about the club's decision to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

Yorke is skeptical about the transfer, as Zirkzee joined Manchester United this summer in a deal reportedly worth £36.5 million.

The 23-year-old Zirkzee scored 12 goals and provided seven assists last season, helping Bologna qualify for the UEFA Champions League. However, he made only two substitute appearances for the Netherlands during Euro 2024, where they were defeated 2-1 by England in the semi-final.

According to Manchester Evening News, Yorke commented, "You have to ask why he is not a starter for Holland. That’s a concern for me when you come in at United for that sort of fee."

Yorke also noted that in recent years, the club has signed average players instead of the top-tier talent they should be targeting. "United should be signing the very best players from Holland and other national teams. The club's current inability to do so worries me."

He added, "I'm not saying Zirkzee is not a good player or that he can't excel in the Premier League, but his lack of playing time in the Holland first team is concerning."
