Transfer: ‘I’m thrilled’ – Man Utd attacker responds after departing from Ten Hag’s team

Manchester United striker Joe Hugill has shared his excitement about leaving Erik ten Hag’s pre-season squad to join Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2024/2025 season.

The 20-year-old has been assigned the no.9 shirt at the League One club.

Hugill recently scored Man United’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over Rangers in a pre-season friendly.

“I am delighted to be here,” Hugill told Wigan’s official website after joining the club on Thursday.

“It’s been a long time coming, but I am thrilled to get it done, and I can’t wait to get started.

“Wearing the no.9 shirt is a huge honor, and I will wear it with pride.

“Hopefully, I can demonstrate what I am capable of.”
