Rohr: Super Eagles Must Ensure Qualification for 2026 World Cup
Former Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, expressed disappointment at the prospect of the team failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The West Africans missed out on the previous World Cup hosted by Qatar.
The Super Eagles have had a poor start in the 2026 qualifiers, with three draws and one defeat in four matches. They are currently second from the bottom in Group C.
Rohr, who led Benin Republic to a 2-1 victory over Nigeria, remarked that it would be a significant setback if the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the global soccer event for the second consecutive time.
"It would be quite disappointing for such a footballing nation, with some of the best players in Africa, to miss another World Cup," Rohr said. "I believe the players, the federation, and the staff will do everything possible to secure qualification. However, they must also be realistic, acknowledging that they have only three points from four games."
