Euro 2024: Steve Nicol suggests England superstar appears unfit and exhausted

Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has commented on England captain Harry Kane's fitness at Euro 2024, suggesting he is not fully fit. According to Nicol, Kane has not performed at his usual level, and the England team's overall performance has been underwhelming.

Nicol observed that Kane might be less than 100 percent fit and appeared fatigued. Despite this, Nicol expressed his desire to see the Bayern Munich striker play in every match. He added that Kane’s 70th-minute substitution against Denmark was likely due to his lack of fitness rather than a tactical decision.

Quoted by ESPN FC, Nicol said, "I can’t help but think Harry Kane is not 100 percent fit. He’s just looked gassed. He just doesn’t look sharp. If I’m Gareth Southgate and Harry Kane is 80 percent fit, I’m playing him. It’s just that simple. I don’t believe that Kane was brought off against Denmark for any other reason than he was feeling it."
