Paris 2024: Ajibade Sees Silver Lining in Super Falcons' Defeat to Canada

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade remains optimistic about the team’s prospects for the 2024 Olympic Games despite their recent defeat to Canada.

The former African champions lost 1-0 to Canada in their only warm-up match before the Olympics. Jordyn Huitema capitalized on an error by Deborah Abiodun to score the winning goal in the eighth minute. Although the Super Falcons created several opportunities, their finishing let them down.

Ajibade noted that there were many positives to take from the match.

S“It wasn’t a bad test match. We lost 1-0, but there were good moments in the game. We just didn’t capitalize on our chances,” Ajibade told Afrik Foot.

“It was a beneficial game for our preparation. Now we know what we need to improve on as we move forward.”

Randy Waldrum’s team will begin their Paris 2024 campaign against Brazil at Stade Bordeaux next Thursday.
