Euro 2024: Shearer advises England coach on two non-claimable changes before Switzerland match

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has suggested that England manager Gareth Southgate should make two changes ahead of the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 Round of 16 match against Switzerland.

England recently advanced to the Euro 2024 quarter-finals after defeating Slovakia 2-1 in the Round of 16 on Sunday. Southgate’s team is set to face Switzerland in the upcoming quarter-final match.

Switzerland secured their spot in the quarter-finals by defeating Italy 2-0.

Shearer recommends that Southgate start Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa and Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon against Switzerland.

Shearer said, as quoted by Metro:

“I would go with Konsa. He is the one who has been involved a little bit more, so I would bring him in. I would keep Palmer in, I would bring Gordon in. I would keep Mainoo in because he’s done enough.”
