Liverpool 'promptly began pursuing' a £25m target after being 'impressed' by Euro 2024 performance.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz during the summer transfer window after being impressed by his performances at Euro 2024.
The Reds have been linked with several wingers this summer to strengthen their attack under new head coach Arne Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season. Reports have also connected Liverpool with Newcastle United and England winger Anthony Gordon, but Newcastle’s high valuation of Gordon has deterred them.
Despite this, the pursuit may not be over as there are reports that Gordon is unsettled after being denied his desired transfer.
Currently, Liverpool are exploring other options, with Turkish outlet Milliyet reporting their interest in Galatasaray’s Yilmaz. The 24-year-old Turkey international is also attracting interest from Manchester United and Tottenham, as his profile has risen following Turkey’s elimination from Euro 2024.
Liverpool are said to admire Yilmaz, especially for his performance against Virgil van Dijk and Nathan Ake in Turkey's 2-1 loss to the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 quarter-final.
