Euro 2024: Rio Ferdinand identifies the tournament's top defender

Former England international Rio Ferdinand has praised William Saliba as the top defender at Euro 2024.

Saliba has excelled for France, taking Ibrahima Konate's place in the lineup.

In five matches, the Arsenal centre-back has not allowed any goals from open play.

France has conceded just one goal, a penalty by Robert Lewandowski during the group stages.

"His performance at this tournament is no surprise to those who've watched him over the last season. He's been outstanding, displaying remarkable calmness—he's the best-performing centre-back at Euro 2024," Ferdinand said on BBC.
